About Amanda
Amanda Galal, 34, is a Greek-Egyptian artist and designer currently based between Paris and Athens. Born and raised in Athens, she spent five formative years in Egypt, where she completed high school before returning to Greece to pursue her creative path.
After completing her BA of graphic design from the T.E.I. of Athens, Amanda entered the advertising industry, gaining hands-on experience and developing her skills. Seeking broader experience, Amanda then moved to London for an MA in Graphic Branding & Identity at the UAL: London College of Communication, while also growing her freelance portfolio.
Upon returning to Athens, she joined leading agencies including SohoSquare, McCann Group, and Ogilvy & Mather. After nine successful years in advertising, she transitioned into full-time freelance work, continuing her creative journey across Europe.
Alongside her design career, Amanda is also an emerging artist. Her work explores the intersection of creativity, tradition, and culture, often expressed through surreal and symbolic forms. Illustration is at the heart of her creative practice—it is her most refined and frequently used skill, allowing her to shape a distinct visual language that brings her ideas vividly to life.
One of her most successful projects to date is The Towel Project, built around the concept: “Wrap some art around you.” In this series, Amanda incorporates her artwork onto high-quality towels—transforming a functional item into an accessible canvas. The project gives people the chance to take home a piece of her art—and by extension, a piece of her.
Through her art, she gives voice to her identity as a Greek-Egyptian, drawing inspiration from her heritage and surroundings.
